Viktor Award for Alexandra Calmy

Alexandra Calmy, Full Professor at the Department of Medicine, wins a , the "Oscar" of the Swiss healthcare sector.

An infectious disease specialist, Director of the Clinical Research Centre at the Geneva AV¶ÌÊÓÆµ Hospitals (HUG) and the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine, as well as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandra Calmy also leads the HUG HIV Unit. Highly committed to international and humanitarian health, as well as to raising awareness about infectious diseases, she has been awarded the "Medical Feat" trophy. This prize recognises both her innovative research and her long-standing commitment to developing countries, particularly in the field of HIV/AIDS.  

Appointed Full Professor in 2021, Alexandra Calmy has served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine since 2019. She was responsible for international and humanitarian medicine from 2019 to 2023 and has been in charge of clinical medicine since July 2023.  

The Viktor Awards honour individuals, institutions, services, and achievements in the Swiss healthcare sector that have made a significant impact over the past year.
