Law studies at the Faculty develop the multiple skills necessary for future integration into the professional world. In addition to knowledge of law (national and international), graduates are trained to apply the law to concrete situations in a critical manner. Their key skills are knowledge of the law, its application, the ability to form judgements, communication and autonomy in learning.
The basic university education in Swiss law consists of two consecutive courses: the Bachelor's degree in law, which provides a general legal education, and the Master's degree in law, which allows students to continue and complete their legal education by specialising in various fields, such as economic law, civil law, public law, and international and European law.
The studies do not constitute professional training and must be supplemented, where appropriate and depending on the professional sector envisaged, by knowledge acquired in other faculties, during internships (for the bar or notary qualification) or stays abroad (which enable students to familiarise themselves with other legal systems and practise other languages).
