Until the start of the 2024 academic year, the Master's degree in Environmental Sciences will be awarded jointly by the Faculties of Science, Social Sciences, Economics and Management, in collaboration with the Institute of Environmental Sciences. It is administratively attached to the Faculty of Science.

the assets of the master in environmental science听

MUSE proposes an interdisciplinary approach to studying the functioning of the environment and its interaction with humans and society. Each of the environmental issues addressed during the course - climate, energy, water, biodiversity, territories - is studied from the point of view of science, social sciences, economics ,  law and health.

The curriculum offers five specializations: "Biodiversity, Ecosystems and Society", "Climate Impacts", "Ecological Transition and Society", "Energy" and "Water Sciences".

  • Alpine workshop: In the first semester of studies, students tackle environmental issues through field experience in Evol猫ne, Valais.
  • Practical workshops: In the second and third semesters of studies, students carry out field work related to the chosen specialization. Depending on the case: natural environment sampling, sampling, data collection and analysis, land use planning project, community development project taking climate change into account, etc.
  • Internship: Students have the opportunity to complete an internship equivalent to three ECTS credits.

The development of environmental sciences is galloping. Environmental professions are changing rapidly, whether in environmental management, in government offices, international organizations, NGOs, citizen organizations, design offices, engineering offices or companies, such as the chemical or food industry.

PRACTICAL INFORMATIONS

  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in science, economics, social sciences, international relations, medicine, law or any equivalent study direction. Applications by students from other study directions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An additional course load 听of 9 ECTS to 30 ECTS may be requested (as entrance requirement or as additional courses to be followed parallel to the Master鈥檚 programme).
  • HES students in disciplines related to environmental sciences: Additional training from 9 ECTS to 30 ECTS may be requested (co- or pre-requisite).听

Entry into the master鈥檚 program takes place only once a year in September.

February 28: Registration deadline for all graduates (AV短视频, Universities in Switzerland or abroad).

1. PREPARE THE MASTER'S APPLICATION FILE

The application file for a Master's degree from the AV短视频 must include a letter of motivation, a CV and a Bachelor's transcript. Additional documents are required if your previous diploma was not issued by Unige or if you are not French-speaking.

2. REGISTER: DEADLINES AND PROCESS

The documents to gather and the procedure to follow differ according to your status: graduate of Unige or not, French-speaking or not, etc.

Students have the opportunity to complete an internship in a company, equivalent to three credits.
