The projects led by Céline Brockmann and Maeva Badré, carried out by multidisciplinary teams as part of the UNIGE (SSI) programme, were recognised at the last congress of the .

Maeva Badré is a PhD student at the PhD School of Life Sciences of the UNIGE faculties of medicine and science and an educator in emotional and sexual life. She won the prize for the best poster for her project ‘Genital corpuscles in the clitoris’. This project aims to describe the detailed functional anatomy of the clitoris by combining MRI imaging, anatomical dissections, high-resolution 2D immunohistology and 3D immunohistological analysis of the entire organ. The ultimate aim is to produce an atlas of the functional architecture of the clitoris that can be used as a reference in clinical, surgical and educational contexts, as well as 3D models and new anatomical plates.

Céline Brockmann, scientific collaborator and director of the SSI, received the Best Basic Science Podium Presentation Award for the project ‘Cadaver-based 3D pelvic models for sexual and reproductive anatomy education: assessment among medical students’, which aims to develop 2D and 3D models of male and female pelvis based on precise anatomical data for medical students.

A biologist by training, specialising in reproduction, Dr Céline Brockmann is committed to promoting gender equality, sexual health and sexual rights. She co-founded the SSI programme in 2017, together with Dr Jasmine Abdulcadir (UNIGE/HUG). This follows the observation of multiple misconceptions, myths and taboos about sex, gender and sexuality among school and university education professionals, health professionals and the general public which have negative impacts on sexual health. SSI aims to develop training courses, educational tools and interdisciplinary research projects on these issues.
