Prof. Christophe Lovis has received financial support from the SWATCH Group - 3.5 million francs over five years to complete the construction of his high-precision Ristretto spectrometer at the Geneva Observatory.
3.5 millions francs OVER 5 YEARS
Swatch Group's manna will ensure the completion of this high-precision instrument, and in particular its adaptive optics system. Its aim is to study the atmosphere of extrasolar planets.
Once it has left the workshops at Sauverny, in the canton of Geneva, Ristretto will be tested at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence, in France, before being installed in 2029 or 2030 on one of the 4 telescopes of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile.
