Appointment of Nader Perroud

Nader Perroud studied medicine at the UNIGE, before going on to train in psychiatry and psychotherapy. He obtained his doctorate in 2006 and his specialist title in 2008. Nader Perroud is particularly interested in psychiatric pathologies characterized by difficulties in managing emotions and took over the responsibility of the Emotional Regulation Disorders Unit at the HUG in 2017.

His clinical skills focus on the care of people with difficulties in emotion management, particularly those suffering from borderline personality disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He has implemented specific psychotherapeutic approaches, including dialectical behavior therapy and mentalization-based therapy. He is committed to teaching these approaches at all levels, including continuing education.

Nader Perroud's research focuses on borderline personality disorder, ADHD and the mechanisms involved in emotion regulation. His most recent work has focused on understanding psychotherapeutic factors promoting better emotion regulation. He has also been working on the development of a smartphone application for people with borderline personality disorder, and in 2021 won European funding to assess emotional variation through connected tools. In September 2024, he chaired the 8th international French-language symposium on ADHD in Geneva and was awarded the Prix de la reconnaissance 2025 by the Geneva Convention Bureau. Privat-docent in 2011, Nader Perroud was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine in 2019, then Full Professor in December 2024.
