His research group is interested in nuclear reprogramming and genome editing, and how these can be applied to understand mechanisms behind pancreatic beta-cell failure leading to diabetes. Prof. Timo Otonkoski is also leading the that brings together eleven research groups and four associated clinical researchers interested in cellular metabolism as a driving force in tissue homeostasis, cellular differentiation and degenerative diseases.
