Mélanie Fourgeaud

Muscle stem cells to fight duchenne muscular dystrophy

Mélanie studied medicine in France, specialising in laboratory medicine. Attracted to research from an early age, she also obtained a Master's degree in molecular and cellular biology. It was during her Masters course in Grenoble that she became fascinated by myology and decided to continue her studies with a doctorate in this field. Her thesis work, carried out in Professor Maud Frieden's laboratory, is aimed at determining the role of two proteins in the activation of muscle stem cells, both in physiological conditions and during Duchenne muscular dystrophy. In her spare time, Mélanie enjoys tango and gardening.
