Alina Batiuk

Balancing the building blocks of life

Alina, originally from Ukraine, obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in molecular and cell biology. She then explored how cells turn into cancer in research laboratory in Belgium and later studied important cell proteins interactions in research group in Denmark. Now, as a PhD student with Prof. Ivana Gasic, Alina studies microtubules—tiny cell structures made of tubulin proteins. Her work is focused on how cells sense and keep the right amount of tubulin, which could help us understand and fight cancer better. When she’s not in the lab, Alina loves hiking and discovering the beautiful mountains and nature nearby.
