Kenneth Adea earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Trent AV¶ÌÊÓƵ in Canada. He then completed a Master's degree in Biochemistry at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ under the guidance of Professor Oliver Hartley. While working at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Zurich in Professor Roland Sigel's laboratory, his projects were focused on understanding the complex structures of tertiary RNA using 2D NMR and the RNase footprinting with radiolabeled nucleotides.
Kenneth has been working as a research assistant in Isabella's team since January 2021. At the Center for Emerging Viral Diseases, he has been involved in and supported various research projects on emerging viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. He is also studying the mpox virus (formerly monkexpox) and its infectivity in different animal cells. Much of his work involves handling live viruses in the BSL-3 laboratory at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ Hospitals of Geneva. Additionally, he is collaborating with the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) on the validation of several diagnostic tools.
