I hold a BA in English and Russian and an MA in English from the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ. My research centers around the connection between literature and music in Romanticism. I am currently working on a PhD thesis entitled “‘Dare you to forget’: Musical-Poetic Performance Expression in English Romantic Writing,” under the supervision of Professor Simon Swift. In this thesis, I draw on the cultural history of music and musical performance to explore an expressive mode between music and literature during the Romantic period, with a focus on the work of Lord Byron. My broader interests include Russian literature, lyric theory, cognitive studies and the links between music and literature of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
