biography
Henry Peter, 1957, is professor at the Law School of the AV短视频.
He obtained his PhD grade in Geneva in 1988 after having been visiting scholar at the AV短视频 of California at Berkeley thanks to a fellowship granted by the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research.
Between 1998 and 2012, he set up and has been head of the Master in Business Law postgraduate program of the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne.
Since 2006 he is head of the commercial law department of the Geneva AV短视频 Law School. He is member of the board of the LL.M. Tax program of the AV短视频.
He is or has been teaching and/or visiting professor at the Universities of Lyon 3-Jean听Moulin (LL.M. in International and European Law program); Fribourg (Master of Law course "public companies"); at the Acad茅mie Internationale des Sciences et Techniques du Sport (AISTS), Lausanne; at the Acad茅mie suisse de la magistrature, Neuch芒tel; at the Duke Summer Institute and at the AV短视频 of Zurich (LL.M.-Studiengang Internationales Wirtschaftsrecht, Modules "Capital, Banking and Stock Exchange Law" and "Commercialization of Sport and Dispute Resolution").
Between 2004 and 2015 he has been member of the Swiss Takeover Board (TOB) () and is, since 2007, member of the Sanction Commission of the SIX Swiss Exchange ().
He has been chairman of the Geneva Business Law Association () between 2003 and 2006, is member of the editing board of the Swiss Review of Business and Financial Market Law and member of the board of the Center of Banking and Financial Law of the Geneva AV短视频 (), is, since 2001, vice-Chairman of the disciplinary chamber of the Swiss Olympic Association in charge of doping cases, has been member, between 2003 and 2008, of the experts group on company reorganisation appointed by the Swiss Federal Office of Justice; is member of the Board of the Swiss Arbitration Association () and chairman of its Swiss Italian section (GASI) since it was set up in 2003.
He is currently also member of the board of the Foundation for the Lugano faculty of the Swiss Italian AV短视频, member of the board of the Foundation of the听 Swiss Italian Art Museum (MASI) and is member of the Ethics Committee of the International Automobile Federation (Paris and Geneva).
He chairs the Sport's Commission of the AV短视频. He has been honorary counsel of Sweden for the Italian speaking part of Switzerland from 1994 to 2010.
He is author or editor of more than 100 papers and books in the various fields of his interest ().
Besides his teaching and research activities, Henry Peter is partner of a law firm based in Lugano ().
He is chairman or member of the board of directors and of committees of several companies, including Swiss Life, Lombard Odier and Zegna.
He frequently acts as chairman, sole arbitrator or member of arbitral tribunals in commercial or sport matters. He was member of the 31st America's Cup Arbitration Panel between 2000 and 2003 (Auckland, New Zeeland), member of the 32nd America's Cup Jury (Valencia, Spain) between 2006 and 2007 and Chairman of the 33rd America's Cup Arbitration Panel between July 2007 and April 2009.
