Prof. Luigi Bonacina
Luigi Bonacina began his academic career at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Milan. After obtaining a master's degree in optical physics, he completed a doctorate at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, with a research project in the field of ultrafast molecular spectroscopy. He then joined the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ, becoming a lecturer in the Department of Applied Physics in 2011. His research focuses on the development of new approaches to bioimaging, with the aim of improving the acquisition speed, penetration depth and selectivity of optical methods, by combining non-linear processes, nanotechnology and new laser sources. Luigi Bonacina is the author of over a hundred articles in the fields of microscopy, ultrafast spectroscopy and bio-nanotechnology. Since January 2022, he has been coordinating a European project focusing on the development of multi-photon microscopy in the infrared region for biomedical applications. In August 2023, Luigi Bonacina was appointed Associate Professor in the Applied Physics Department of the Faculty of Science.
