Prof. Joanito Liberti

Assistant Professor

Department of Genetics & Evolution

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Rome and a Master’s degree from the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Copenhagen, Joanito Liberti became interested in the phenotypic and molecular adaptation of certain social insects. This work, related to evolution, was the focus of his doctoral thesis, presented at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Copenhagen. Dr. Liberti later joined the Department of Fundamental Microbiology at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Lausanne as a Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow. There, using animal models including ants and bees, he seeks to understand how natural selection shapes social interactions, whether they are beneficial or conflict-generating. He is the author of numerous high-impact scientific publications, some of which are particularly original.
