Prof. Francesco Riva
Associate Professor
Department of Theoretical Physics
Francesco Riva obtained a master's degree in theoretical physics at ETHZ in 2004, followed by a doctorate at Oxford AV¶ÌÊÓƵ (UK). He continued his postdoctoral studies at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Padua (Italy), IFAE Barcelona (Spain), EPFL and CERN's Theoretical Division. In 2018, he was awarded an SNSF fellowship in the Department of Theoretical Physics at UNIGE. Francesco Riva is an expert in high-energy physics, particularly collider physics. He was the coordinator of the Higgs Cross Section Working Group dealing with the physics of the Higgs boson. He applied the effective field theory approach to gravity and the Standard Model of particle physics, making significant contributions to the study of Higgs couplings at high energies. These important advances have been published in high-impact journals. Francesco Riva's work has been recognized by numerous invitations to give lectures and extends to outreach activities. Francesco Riva will be appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Theoretical Physics on August 1, 2023.
