Prof. Charlotte Aumeier
In 2014, after completing her thesis at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Bonn (Germany), Charlotte Aumeier joined the CNRS in Grenoble for a post-doctorate. In 2018, she was appointed assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry at UNIGE.
Her research focuses on the growth dynamics of cytoskeletal molecular assemblies, with a particular emphasis on microtubules. She has discovered that molecular motors control the growth dynamics of these filaments. In addition, she has demonstrated that phase separation at the growing end of microtubules allows tubulin to condense, increasing the speed of microtubule growth in cells. These remarkable achievements open up considerable research prospects. At the annual LS2 Meeting held at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Lausanne, Charlotte Aumeier was awarded the Friedrich Miescher Prize 2024.
On February 1, 2024, Charlotte Aumeier was appointed Associate Professor.
