Chan Cao completed her training as a chemist in the Department of Chemistry at East China AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Science and Technology in Shanghai, where she obtained a PhD in Applied Chemistry (Single Molecule Analysis by Aerolysin and Hemolysin Biological Nanopores, 2017). She continues her specialization with a postdoctoral fellowship at EPFL. In 2020, she was awarded an SNSF PRIMA fellowship and became an independent group leader, heading the Bio and Bio-inspired Nanosystems Laboratory at the Global Health Institute and the Institute of Bioengineering, School of Life Science at EPFL. Chan Cao is interested in developing new analytical approaches to characterize biomolecules at the atomic and molecular levels. She focuses on single-molecule nanopore technology. Chan Cao is appointed Assistant Professor with conditional pre-tenure in the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry of the Faculty of Science in July 2023. The arrival of this researcher strengthens the fields of nanosensors and biomaterials.
