Prof. Boris Korzh
After studying at Imperial College London and earning a doctorate from UNIGE in 2016, Boris Korzh joined NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, where he worked on the development of single-photon detectors based on superconducting nanowire technology, achieving world records for several key performance metrics. Boris Korzh has been appointed Assistant Professor as of September 1, 2024, in the Department of Applied Physics at UNIGE. There, he continues his work on single-photon detectors and cameras based on this technology. He is also developing applications of these detectors for quantum communication, the biomedical field, high-energy physics, and astronomy.
Boris Korzh is a world expert in photon detectors and their applications in quantum communication and space science. His arrival in Geneva enhances and strengthens UNIGE’s expertise in the critical field of quantum technologies.
