Prof. Arnaud Casteigts
Full Professor
Computer Science Department
Arnaud Casteigts obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Bordeaux in 2007. He then completed two post-doctorates in Ottawa, Canada. In 2012, he returned to the Université de Bordeaux as a lecturer and obtained his habilitation to direct research in 2018, before being appointed professor in 2022. His main areas of research are in fundamental computer science, particularly algorithms and algorithmic complexity. He is particularly interested in the modeling of dynamic networks (vehicles, drones, insects, social relations, etc.) using graph theory and its temporal extensions, as well as in the design of decentralized algorithms targeting these networks (collective intelligence). From 2020 to 2023, Arnaud Casteigts will head the "Distributed Algorithms" team at the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Bordeaux, and will lead an ANR project involving some twenty people based in Bordeaux, Paris and Le Havre. His articles have been published in leading journals such as Journal of Computer and System Sciences, Algorithmica, and Theoretical Computer Science, as well as in the proceedings of emblematic fundamental computer science conferences such as FOCS, ICALP, DISC and PODC. Finally, he has taken part in a number of multidisciplinary projects, notably with sociologists and physicians (in Canada) and biologists (in France). In August 2023, Arnaud Casteigts will be appointed full professor in the Computer Science Department of the UNIGE Faculty of Science.
