Prof. Anne Verhamme
Anne Verhamme obtained her PhD in astrophysics from the UNIGE in 2008. Her thesis focused on the radiative transfer effects of Lyman-α photons in galaxies. Her scientific career has taken her between the universities of Oxford, Lyon (CRAL) and Geneva, where she has held the position of assistant professor until today.
Anne Verhamme is an internationally renowned astronomer whose research focuses on numerical simulations of galaxies, galaxy physics and the study of cosmic reionization sources. She is the author of around 150 publications and regularly gives review talks at international conferences.
Anne Verhamme also stands out for her ability to manage a team, her remarkable dynamism for research, and her unifying spirit. Anne Verhamme also contributes to teaching in the Master's program in astrophysics and to the activities undertaken to welcome young and future students. All these elements contribute to the influence of the Astronomy Department and the Faculty of Science. Anne Verhamme will be appointed Associate Professor in the Astronomy Department on October 1, 2023.
