HIT Kick-off Event

The 鈥High Potential AV短视频 Leaders Identity & Skills Training Program鈥 is a unique leadership development program for women full and associate professors who aim to take up leadership roles at institutional level. The H.I.T. Program is a national cooperation program of all Swiss universities, with the AV短视频 of Zurich as leading house, and is financed in the framework of the Federal Program P-7 (swissuniversities). Since its pilot edition in 2019, one hundred women professors from all Swiss universities have participated in the H.I.T. Program.

The current edition has started on 1-2 February 2024 with a kickoff event hosted in the Villa Moynier in Geneva. Prof. Brigitte Galliot, Vice-Rector of the AV短视频, welcomed the participants on behalf of the host institution, and shared from her leadership experience.

First, in a moderated icebreaker session, the participants got to know each other, and exchanged about their careers, expectations from the program, and what motivates and inspires them as academic leaders. The program management provided details about the agenda: various workshops and leadership trainers, professional coaches, and the unique opportunity to exchange with top leaders (Rectors, Vice-Rectors) from all universities about their leadership experience and vision for a more inclusive academic environment. The first day concluded with a networking dinner, a perfect opportunity to continue the conversations and exchanges with peers.

The second day started with a workshop about women and leadership in academia led by Prof. Janet Hering. Prof. Hering reflected on her academic leadership role as former director of EAWAG, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, and guided small-group discussions focused on various leadership-related topics.

The event concluded with an inspiring panel with program Alumnae from the AV短视频: Prof. Constanza Bonadonna, Dean of the Faculty of Science (H.I.T. Program 2019-20), Prof. Gloria Gaggioli, Director Geneva Academy (H.I.T. Program 2021-22) and Prof. Enrica Bordignon, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science (H.I.T. Program 2023).
