Welcome to the website of Bordignon research group.
We study how biomolecules interact and change structures in their physiological environment using site-directed spin labeling electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). We monitor dynamics of specific spin-labeled side chains via continuous wave EPR and determine interspin distances between selected pairs of labels via pulsed dipolar spectroscopy. We use an integrative approach combining EPR with cryo-EM, modeling, MD simulations and fluorescence spectroscopy to study biologically relevant processes such as toxin mechanisms, liquid-liquid phase separation, transport of substrates across membranes and apoptosis.
