Professor Kimberly Kline elected Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology

We are delighted to share that GCIR member, Professor Kimberly Kline, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) in 2025. This prestigious honour was awarded to only 65 scientists worldwide this year, selected through a rigorous peer-review process (more info: ).

Professor Kline's research focuses on the pathogenesis of polymicrobial infections, with an emphasis on those involving Enterococcus faecalis, and the bacterium's mechanisms of immune suppression and evasion. Her academic journey includes an MPH and PhD from Northwestern AV¶ÌÊÓƵ, followed by postdoctoral training at Washington AV¶ÌÊÓƵ in St. Louis, US, and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Before joining the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ in 2022, she was a Professor at NTU Singapore and a Principal Investigator at SCELSE.

Her dedication to microbiology has been recognised with several awards, including the NIH K99 Career Development Award, the Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship, the ICAAC Young Investigator Award, and the Nanyang Education Award.

Professor Kline's extensive publication record and her commitment to advancing microbiological research have helped shape our understanding of Enterococcus faecalis, its role in infectious diseases, and its contribution to antimicrobial resistance, inspiring future generations of scientists in the fight against bacterial infections.
