Workshop - Health in the City
From 25 to 26 June 2024, Prof. Claudine Burton-ԲDzfrom the Institute of dzDZDzResearch at the AVƵ of Geneva organized a workshop on "HEALTH IN THE CITY - EXPLORING URBAN HEALTH FROM A SOCIAL SCIENCES PERSPECTIVE." This project, Ծپٱunder the 4EU+ framework, ɲrealized in ǴDZپDzwith the AVƵ of Milan and Charles AVƵ.
Open to students, scholars, and the public, the workshop aimed to deepenknowledge exchange and foster conversations around pressing urbanhealth challenges from a social sciences perspective.
The first daykicked off with a keynote speech by Prof. Judith Green from the AVƵ of Exeter, followed by sessions where experts fromvariousuniversitiesshared insights on topics such as “HealthInequalities, Lifestyle, and Urban Environment,” “Knowledges, Design, and Representations of Health,” and “Communities, Local Health, Participation, and HealthSystems.” After a packedday of speeches, presentations, and lively discussions, the eventconcludedits first daywith a convivialaperitifgathering for participants.
On Day 2, the focusshifted to “Urban Design and Green Spaces,” where the audience learned about the significantrolethat social sciences play in developing a green city. Another keythemewas ٴdz Determinants of Health, Marginalization, and Social Practices.” Duringthis session, experts disucssedhealthcaresystems and practices for migrants and marginalized groups, presentingpreliminaryresearchresultsfroman action research in primaryhealth care.
