Registration
The registration period for the 2025-2026 academic year is now closed. The next registration period for 2026-2027 will open at the beginning of 2026.
Conditions for Submitting an Application File
1. Age
You are 18 years old or older (by September 1st before the start of the academic year).
2. Place of Residence
You live in Geneva.
Or
If you do not live in Geneva, the following three conditions must be met:

You hold an asylum-related permit from a canton other than Geneva:
- N
- F
- F-refugee
- B-refugee
- Permit S

Your education project in Geneva is supported by a letter from the social services of your canton.

You have a B1 level in French or a B2 level in English, confirmed by official certificates.
3. Residence in Switzerland
You have been living in Switzerland for less than 5 years.
4. Residence Permit
You hold one of the following permits:
- N
- F
- F-refugee
- B-refugee
- Permit S
- Permit B for family reunification
OR
You are of Swiss nationality and returning from abroad.
5. Education
You must meet the following three conditions:
- You intend to pursue studies at a higher education institution in Geneva (AV¶ÌÊÓÆµ, HES-SO Geneva, or IHEID).
- You have completed secondary school and obtained your diploma.
- You have not yet obtained a university Master's degree.
If you already hold a Master's degree, your application may be considered if your profession is regulated. For more information, visit: .
6. French Language Level
You have an A1 level in French (both oral and written).
7. Income
Your unified determined income (RDU) qualifies you to apply for an annual training voucher (CAF).

Your application file is evaluated individually. You will be contacted by the program coordinators to inform you of the next steps regarding your application. Files are assessed holistically and submitted for final decision to the Strategic Committee of the Horizon Academic program.

PROGRAMME HORIZON ACADEMIQUE
Candidate selection process 2024-2025
From February 1 to March 31
You submit your application.
Between March and mid-May
We review your application to verify that you meet the administrative requirements.
- If yes, we will contact you to schedule a Zoom meeting.
- If you need to test your French level, we will administer a French language test.
End of May
The committee reviews your application.
Beginning of June
You will receive our decision.
If your application is accepted
You will receive a letter from us with all the necessary information.
You may be required to attend an intensive French summer course.
This course will take place from July 1 to August 16, 2024. It is full-time: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
This course is for people with a B1 level in French. It may also be exceptionally open to individuals with an S, B, F-refugee, or F-foreign permit received after May 1, 2019.
For those not taking the intensive French summer course, academic studies will begin on September 15, 2025.
If your application is not accepted
You may reapply the following year.
You will be invited to an information session about other available study options.
