After 34 years at the Forel Institute and then at the F.-A. Forel (Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences), our dear colleague Philippe Arpagaus retired at the end of November 2024. Philippe joined our institution in 1990 as a chemistry laboratory technician. He has always enthusiastically participated in various laboratory and field activities, in particular on Lake Geneva, as captain of "La Licorne", with the creation of the new bathymetric map of the lake, on Lakes Lugano and Annecy, the Venice Lagoon, the Oued Sebou in Morocco, the Orikum Lagoon in Albania, then the Arctic and still further the Antarctic. More than 15,000 km on lakes and 30,000 km on the ocean. All our colleagues in the department would like to thank him for his professionalism, kindness and unfailing cooperation during all these years of work and friendship.
