Objectives and Assessment
The central aim of the Lab Work : Experimental Method in Psychology is to promote project-based learning, enabling students to master the experimental method in a practical way. They will thus be able to design experiments that provide clear answers to psychological questions, analyse the experimental literature in a current and critical manner, strengthen their scientific writing skills and acquire the cross-disciplinary skills essential for managing a research project.
The assessment method is continuous assessment.
Description
Project-based learning is at the heart of the experimental method course. Working in groups, students are immersed in the complete process of developing experimental research in psychology. The general theme of the projects will be defined, guiding students in a coherent direction while leaving them free to choose specific topics.
In addition to research design and implementation, particular attention will be paid to research ethics, project management, pre-registration and the acquisition of cross-disciplinary skills. These skills, such as communication, team work, problem-solving and critical thinking, are essential for professional and personal success. They are integrated throughout the course, guaranteeing a complete and versatile education.
From the design of the project, through the literature search, the formulation of a theoretical hypothesis, the development of the method, to the definition of variables, operational hypotheses, experimentation, data collection and analysis, students will have a concrete and in-depth experience. This project-based approach prepares them effectively for the current challenges in the field. Throughout the course, students are given guidance and advice, in particular through a research project that is progressively developed and assessed in a collaborative manner.
