Objectives and Assessment

This course aims to familiarise students with the basic principles of social cognition. This course will introduce them to the psychological theories of social cognition by addressing the sub-components of social cognition, its functions and its cerebral bases.

Creation of a podcast episode.

Description

The course deals with social cognition, i.e. all the cognitive (perception, memorisation, reasoning, etc.) and cerebral processes involved in human social interactions. The main chapters of social cognition (origin of the social brain, social perception, theory of mind, empathy, etc.) will be covered, but the course also deals with the way in which the social context (culture) can modulate the cognitive system. The notion of social contextualisation therefore underpins all the themes covered in the course. The course will be given in video format and students will be asked to create a podcast episode related to the themes covered in the course.
