Mr. Milos Maricic
Philanthropy expert and author, and former humanitarian executive
is a philanthropy expert and author, and a former humanitarian executive. His work introduced new paradigms into global philanthropy, including trust-based giving, the focus on systemic problems, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
Maricic is the founder of the Altruist League, a Geneva-based philanthropy consultancy that pioneered the use of AI for sourcing investments, distributing funds, and managing portfolios. Since its founding, the League has become a global network of progressive investors committed to modernizing philanthropy, with total AUM exceeding USD 10 billion. The League’s philosophy is based on building broad investment coalitions, supporting grassroots organizations, as well as eschewing excessive donor visibility.
In 2021, Maricic authored Fixing Philanthropy, proposing a more efficient way for global giving to help solve systemic problems such as climate change, suboptimal governance, and gender inequality. The book helped popularize the concept of New Power. It criticized certain then-fashionable trends in philanthropy and sustainable finance—including effective altruism and impact investing—while modifying and updating others—including venture philanthropy and ESG.
Maricic has represented the institutional investor industry in the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act standardization process as Chair of Executive AI, a network of large European investment organizations.
