My Research
I am interested in the physical, chemical and temporal evolution of silicic magmatic systems and the generation of large explosive eruptions. I am currently investigating the Takidani Pluton in Central Japan, one of the youngest exposed plutons in the world, which is associated with volcanic activity. This is a unique location to study the evolution of magmatic systems in the upper crust from a petrological and structural point of view. I am using mineral and melt chemistry to constrain the relationship between plutonic and volcanic realms. This will allow us to better understand the magmatic processes that lead to the generation and built-up of large caldera-forming eruptions and the timescales of such processes.
Research Interests
- Crustal magmatism and generation of caldera-forming eruptions
- Chemical, physical and temporal evolution of magmatic reservoirs
- Magma transport, emplacement and ascent
- Isotope geochemistry and geochronology
- Quantification of rock fabrics in magmatic systemsÂ
