CONDITIONS OF REGISTRATION
ADMISSION CONDITIONS
A Bachelor in Biology or an equivalent degree. Students are required to find a laboratory or group in which to conduct their research project.
THE MASTER IN BIOLOGY
is an advanced training program that allows students to follow theoretical courses, in English or French, in the first year according to a specialized orientation (see below). The Master's program puts particular emphasis on research work, with a two-month pre-internship in the first year, followed by a research project carried out in a laboratory or research group for a full year in the second year. The mathematics and physics orientations allow students to broaden their knowledge in one of these disciplines and to work on a multidisciplinary project.

PROFESSIONAL PROSPECTS
The Master of Science in Biology leads to a number of professions both in Switzerland and abroad, including:
- Fundamental and medical research in universities and public institutions
- Scientific research and consulting in biotech and pharmaceutical companies
- Biology teaching in middle school and high school
- Scientific journalism
- Scientific consulting in governmental or private organisations which finance research
- Museums and botanical gardens
- Ecology-oriented services, etc.

Deadline for candidates that hold a foreign bachelor's degree: 28 February 2024
(30 April 2024 for candidates that hold a Swiss bachelor's degree at the start of the next academic year AND, according to their nationality, are not subject to a visa for entry into Switzerland for more than 90 days, and regardless of their current place of residence, or for candidates holding a Swiss residence permit that is valid beyond 30 April.)

The Faculty of Science, with the support of external partners, has established an Excellence Fellowship program open to outstanding and highly motivated students who wish to pursue a Master of Science degree in one of the disciplines covered by the Faculty.
