Understanding how biological systems organize themselves in space and time.
鈥淢y research interest is in biological dynamic systems. Using the tools and concepts of nonequilibrium statistical physics and nonlinear dynamics, I try to understand how biological systems organize themselves in space and time. My focus is on collective effects, which require a proper theoretical treatment for an understanding. 鈥

My research focus is theoretical statistical physics, in particular with applications to biological and synthetic active systems. More specifically, I am interested in relating the microscopic dynamics of active systems to their large-scale emergent behaviors. Bridging this gap can provide a deeper understanding on the self-organization of living matter and, possibly, inspire the design of controllable active materials.
