Pia Pannatier receives the Subside Tremplin prize; an initiative to advance gender equality in academia
A Ph.D. candidate from the Geneva School of Economics and Management has received the Subside Tremplin 2023 prize from the Equality & Diversity Department of the AV短视频. The award allows for a temporary leave of absence to advance in one's career.
Pia Pannatier鈥檚 research examines the patterns of economic integration of refugees in Switzerland. Using a unique longitudinal dataset consisting of administrative records and social security data for the universe of refugees in Switzerland from 1998 to 2018, her research finds that the impact of local conditions at arrival can slow down the integration process and that these effects persist over the refugees' life cycle.
Women are underrepresented in academic research. The听Subside Tremplin program empowers female researchers by releasing recipients from certain duties for one semester by financing a replacement. This offers an opportunity to have the time to develop their career and academic profile through enriching their research portfolio, writing articles, finalizing their thesis, or benefiting from a period spent abroad. In addition, the female researchers are assigned a professor as a mentor.
