On the economic geography of climate change
GSEM Professor Frédéric Robert-Nicoud and Giovanni Peri (AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of California, Davis) have edited and written the introduction to a special issue of the Journal of Economic Geography.
Five papers were selected to provide foundations to informed policymaking by addressing two main themes of the economic geography of climate change.
First, it brings effects that are heterogeneous across space – some regions will lose more than others, and some may be better off as a result. Second, humans will have to adapt to survive, and a crucial aspect of this is geographic mobility - limitations to mobility could worsen the socioeconomic costs of climate change.
