The Innovation Debate 2025

The GSEM's听Center for Innovation & Partnerships,听the Geneva Innovation Movement, and Giga are organizing听鈥淭he Innovation Debate鈥�, an annual event that aims to debate difficult organizational innovation questions.听
As听the听digital world rapidly advances, so does听the听question of how to best prepare our workforce for tomorrow. Should Geneva, renowned for its international policy expertise, shift its focus toward developing technical skills in coding, data science, and technology development to remain competitive on听the听global stage? Or should听the听emphasis remain on digital ethics, policy, and regulation, where Geneva already has considerable influence?听
Four high-level managers from across public, private, and international organizations will debate the 2024 motion:听鈥淕eneva鈥檚 strength in the next decade will be enhanced by fostering technological expertise, coding, and data science skills rather than prioritizing digital ethics, policy, and regulatory knowledge.鈥�
The debate is designed to spur discussion around controversial ideas.
