General Information

I obtained my PhD in Linguistics from the AV¶ÌÊÓƵ of Murcia (Spain) and specialized in cognitive linguistics at UC Berkeley and Hamburg AV¶ÌÊÓƵ. After teaching linguistics and translation, I joined the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences, where I work as senior researcher on language and emotion and asÌýhead of the Education and Training program.

I conduct interdisciplinary research on the way languages represent affective experience, both literally and through metaphor. I study the meaning of emotion terms across languages and cultures, being the executive officer of the GRID project. I also study metaphor in emotion concepts, and the role of affect in (metaphor) creativity and in the representation of various domains of experience such as color or time. Finally, I am interested in the psycholinguistic investigation of conceptual metaphors.
