Battelle séminaire
This seminar has no fixed time. Here we discuss not necessary new, but fundamental results in mathematics.
We ask speakers to do informal talks, accessible for a general audience. Degenerations of Limit linear series
Maps to projective space are given by basepoint-free linear series, thus these are key to understanding the extrinsic geometry of algebraic curves.
How does a linear series degenerate when the underlying curve degenerates and becomes nodal?
Eisenbud and Harris gave a satisfactory answer to this question when the nodal curve is of compact type. Eisen…text/html2021-01-14T16:23:32+00:00Anonymous (anonymous@undisclosed.example.com)grigory_mikhalkin

I am currently a postdoc in Geneva in Pr. Mikhalkin's group. I am working on real enumerative geometry. During my Ph.D, I worked on the orientability of moduli spaces of real curves in real symplectic manifolds. I am currently working on real rational curves on real K3 surfaces.text/html2014-04-16T10:33:30+00:00Anonymous (anonymous@undisclosed.example.com)sergeilanzat

Logarithmic volumes of holes of hypersurfaces and tropicalization of periods
Integrating the logaritmic volume form on well chosen discs bounded on hypersurfaces gives a local system of coordinates on the linear system of such hypersurfaces. Surprisingly, the same procedure gives global coordinates on the corresponding linear system of tropical hypersurfaces.…text/html2015-02-21T19:07:52+00:00Anonymous (anonymous@undisclosed.example.com)tropgeo

Project “TROPGEO”, 2010-2014, Area of activity: Geometry (Mathematics)
The goal of this project is to develop Tropical Geometry, a newly emerging kind of algebraic geometry. It is expected to be more powerful than Classical Geometry in a range of applications (particularly in Physics-minded applications). In the same time it is significantly simpler in several mathematical aspects. In the last decade a number of initial applications of this new geometry has appeared with a success, particularly…text/html2014-11-28T18:11:58+00:00Anonymous (anonymous@undisclosed.example.com)tropgeofinal
